the earth’s climate but also has a positive impact on the human heart.

Heart diseases are one of the leading causes of fatalities globally. Air pollution and especially the presence of particulate matter in the air increases the risk of cardiac issues. 2017 was the year that marked approximately seven million premature deaths and 147 million healthy life years due to the high concentration of particulate matter in the air.

During the period of Jan 2019 to April 2020, the level of heart attacks has seen a significant drop as the ambient pollution levels are also declining.

According to the analysis report of IQ Air’2020 World Air Quality Report, lockdown might have had a healthier effect not only on the earth’s environment but also on human heart health. The report makes use of abundant information provided by the World’s largest database of ground-based air pollution measures.

The world has witnessed less than usual levels of ambient pollution when schools were closed and transportation was halted.

With a significant drop in the levels of PM 2.5, the number of heart attacks has significantly reduced. Hence this solidifies the fact that strict actions are needed at this moment so that the ambient air quality can be improved.
